Recording begins!

June 10th, 2015 by Trey

Recording has begun! Wires are everywhere! Mic stands! Gaffer’s tape! Amps in the kitchen! Amps in the living room! Bedroom? Nah, that’s the control room, yo.

So far so good – we are getting a HUGE sound. Been chasing down grounding issues – the headphone amp was buzzing so loudly on the first try that it was just killing me. Fixed that this morning, mwahaha. Was it all the stupid adapters? No. Was it the snake? No. Was it a bad headphone amp? No. It was… phase issues with the house power, all I had to do was switch power outlets from one side of the house to another. Yay more wires across the living room floor. Of course, I found that out by rewiring the whole rig and testing evvvvverything. Noted: check power first when you’re getting ground hum. Duhhhh…

It was still awesome. :) We’re laying down bass, drums and rhythm guitar live, with scratch vocals. We’ll get the rhythm section down together, playing  live for that groovy (and oh-so-necessary) live feel, and then build the rest of the tracks on that – like a brick house, baby.

Pidjin @ WFIT

May 28th, 2015 by Trey

Many thanks to Todd Kennedy and the crew at WFIT 89.5! Wednesday’s interview and performance were great fun. WFIT has a really cool live room, good sound treatment, lots of groovy mics. The audio and video crew both knew what they were up to, got us set up and going easily and recording the little interview and three-song performance was a blast. Can’t wait to hear the mixes and see the videos.

The interview and the three songs will air Friday June 5. I heard it would be sometime around noon. If you miss it or don’t have a radio handy, you can stream it at Cool, huh?

WFIT has a couple of vines and some more photos on the Facebooks. Looking forward to hearing the mixes – the audio on both little bits of video is what you would hear if you were in the room while we were recording, not what the mix at the board (or what we had in our personalized individual fancy headphone mixes, hehe) sounded like. If  you hit the FB, take a few to listen to the mix Andrew did for General Eyes. Good stuff, can’t wait to hear how ours turns out.

More photos, audio and video to come!

Pidjin On The Radio

May 18th, 2015 by Trey

Pidjin is headed into the studio at WFIT 89.5 FM on Wednesday May 27 to record an interview and live performance with Todd Kennedy for his show Sound Waves.  The show will air on Friday June 5th.

Tune in and turn on!

In other news – the plumbing is fixed and Pidjin is gearing up to put our songs down to tape  (well, ok, hard drive for the most part but there are a few pieces of oldschool analog gear hanging around, who knows what we’ll end up with?!) and we’re very excited to hit this next stage and get our music out into the world for people to enjoy.

Stay tuned to for updates!

Recording in the works

May 5th, 2015 by Trey

So what do you do when the band house has to be torn up to replace bad plumbing? You move everything out the way and when the plumbing’s fixed you take over the entire house and convert it into a recording studio… ohhh yeah. :)

We got the tools, we got the talent. It’s Miller time!

Stay tuned, and stay classy, Brevard.

A weekend of great gigs

May 5th, 2015 by Trey

This weekend was a blast – thanks to the folks at The Kilted Mermaid in Vero Beach for having us down Friday night, and to everyone at Paddy Cassidy’s for their hospitality on Saturday. Both gigs were a lot of fun, great music and a responsive crowd.
